World Community Grid is sponsoring a "Bunny Race" which will run from March 1 thru March 23. Team SETI.USA has entered into this race even though the credits are not very good. We won the last WCG challenges hands down and would like to add this one to our list of wins. For more information please check this thread at our forums. Poem@Home is sponsoring a mini-race of sorts which will run immediately after the WCG "Bunny Race" in March (March 24-31). The intent of this race is to boost production and test the limits of their new server. Although there has been no official announcement that we will participate, there has been some general interest expressed and we will most likely have members participating. Check out the discussion in this thread. |
BOINC 1 Billion Update: We are now less than two months from our goal of reaching 1 billion BOINC credits. This is a major milestone for our team and one that many of us have been looking forward to. Our current BOINC daily production is 2,729,047 and the closest team to us is SETI.Germany with a daily production of 2,374,111. Germany is a little over 96 million credits behind us in BOINC total, so we will definitely reach the billion mark well ahead of them. Keep on crunching and recruiting new members and we will remain at the top!!

SETI.USA encourages its members to participate in the project of their choice. Now that we have accomplished the team's original goal of being #1 in SETI@home credit in ALL BOINC projects is valuable to the team's future success. |

It is the goal of your newsletter staff to provide information and articles of interest to our members. The Computer of the month article will be discontinued in future newsletter issues due to lack of entries. Should we start receiving entries from members again we will consider reinstating the article. |

SETI.USA would like to thank ALL of it's dedicated members and offer CONGRATULATIONS to all those who achieved significant personal milestones in January/February. As you all know, we are growing exponentially. We now have: 134 members with 1,000,000+ COMBINED credits |
We set a new record in the month of January with a total of 58 UoTDs! We also passed Rechenkraft and took over the #8 position. We are currently 34 ahead of Rechenkraft and 94 behind #9 BOINC@Heidelberg. Keep up the good work and remember to update those project profiles occassionally! |

We just started crunching DIMES as a team last month and already we have moved up to the #28 position and are not very far away from taking #27. We currently have 5 members with over 1 million credits each and Crazybob is getting awful close to 2 million! Congrats to Crazybob! DIMES uses little to no CPU (it uses bandwidth) and can be run alongside other projects without interfering with them. If you are interested in being involved the link is http://www.netdimes.org/. |
Do you have or would you like to write an article for our newsletter? We are always looking for new material of interest to our members. If you have something you would like to submit, go here and post it. |

Other Projects of interest -SargeD SETI.USA encourages it's members to crunch whatever project most interests them. However, there are a few projects that we run that do not interfere with our primary projects, yet help us to increase our overall numbers in BOINC. Two of these projects are Pirates@Home and Depspid. Depspid is a non-cpu intensive project that uses some of your bandwidth. Pirates@Home uses the CPU but the WUs are so short (usually less than a minute) that they never interfere with production on other projects. Work for these projects is very sporadic, so we encourage our members to connect and stay connected so that when work is released we can grab our share. Please consider connecting to these projects if you have not already. |

We have lost 3 of our nodes and are now down to 20. If you have any spare parts laying around, especially motherboards and CPUs, that you do not need please post them here. If you want to add your name to the host volunteer list post here. You can also donate money to the cause which will be used to buy needed parts for new nodes or to upgrade existing nodes. |
Member of the Month Interview -SargeD Two months into the new year and one month from our second year anniversary as a team.
