May UoTDs -SargeD

We had a very light month for UoTDs in May with a total of only 36.  Our best project for the month was Proteins with 5, not surprising considering our push for the number 1 spot there. We are currently at 592 total which keeps us solidly in the number 8 position. We made up some of the ground lost last month to #7 ranked BOINC@Heidelberg who is now only 59 ahead of us.

Congratulations also to our top members for the month each of whom had 3 UoTDs:

Blkjack-21,  [SETI.USA]Tank_Master, zeitgeistmovie.com, Solarwinds

Proteins Update -SargeD

We were very successful in our push for number one at Proteins @Home and ended up 412,009 cobblestones ahead of L'Alliance Francophone.  This was largely due to the outstanding response we got to our call for help to all of our members.  Our sincerest thanks to all of those who participated.  This just reinforces our belief that "all" members make a difference, whether they have 1 machine or a hundred.  The only problem now is that we have learned that the project was not shut down for good as we thought it would be.  They have announced the possibility of another round of work to be released sometime in September.  We have from now until then to decide if we want to defend this #1 position or not.  The unofficial consensus right now is that we will be there!

Project of the Month: -SargeD

SETI.USA encourages its members to participate in the project of their choice. Now that we have accomplished the team's original goal of being #1 in SETI@home, credit in ALL BOINC projects is valuable to the team's future success.

Some members have asked for direction as to which projects they should allocate their resources to. Therefore we have decided to designate a “Team Project of the Month”. The chosen project typically will be one in which our team currently has a poor showing in that projects standings.

During our push for #1 at Proteins, L'Alliance Francophone attacked our position at Riesel Sieve and for a short while actually took our number 1 there.  With a call up of the Project Mobilization Force (PMF) we have since taken the #1 back, but LAF is still showing a strong presence there and is still a threat to our position.  Many of us, including those on the PMF, have been fighting hard to maintain our position there.  Though we are not calling it a Project of the Month, we highly encourage anyone looking for a project to attach to Riesel Sieve and give us a hand there.

Otherwise, crunch whatever you like best. A new project of the month will possibly be named as early as July's issue. Thank ALL of you for everything you give to this team!!

Other Projects of interest -SargeD

SETI.USA encourages it's members to crunch whatever project most interests them. However, there are a few projects that we run that do not interfere with our primary projects, yet help us to increase our overall numbers in BOINC. Two of these projects are Pirates@Home and Depspid. Depspid is a non-cpu intensive project that uses some of your bandwidth. Pirates@Home uses the CPU but the WUs are so short (usually less than a minute) that they never interfere with production on other projects. Work for these projects is very sporadic, so we encourage our members to connect and stay connected so that when work is released we can grab our share. Please consider connecting to these projects if you have not already.

NOTE: DepSpid has been having a lot of work lately.  We have a chance to close the gap between us and BOINC Synergy if we can grab as much of this new work as possible.  If you have computers that are not connected to DepSpid, please consider doing so.

Quote of the Month:

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."

- Theodore Roosevelt -

Team Standing and OS Support -Steve

This chart has been revised to incorporate DrBob's previous weekly project ranking format. More data columns have also been added to track our team's total credit (T.C.) and recent average credit (RAC) against the top teams in each for every project. Total Formula BOINC credits earned by our team are also included now. It also indicates which projects have native 64-bit apps for 64-bit OSes.

RED lettering is used to draw attention to projects of most interest, currently.

SETI.USA - Project Stat Pages -SargeD

My sincere apologies for the delay in getting the new stats pages online.  Between my vacation and efforts to get my wife's SUV repaired after her wreck, I have been extremely busy.  I am now getting back to work on it and hope to have an initial version ready in the very near future.

Stay Tuned!
