April UoTDs -SargeD

Our number of UoTDs dropped some this month and we only had a total of 44.  Our best project for the month was Cels with 4 but there were several others where we got 3 each. We are currently at 542 total which keeps us in the number 8 position. We dropped a little farther behind #7 ranked BOINC@Heidelberg who is now 65 ahead of us.

Congratulations also to our top members for the month:

lawrence with 4, and Teratoma, Steve, Solarwinds, DrBob and BlkJack-21 with 3 each.

SETI.USA Making a run for #1 in Proteins -SargeD

Word has been put out by the project that Proteins will be closing it's doors probably around the end of June.  Because of this it has been decided that we should push to take #1 from L'Alliance Francofone.  If we manage to take and hold number one until the project closes we will never have to worry about defending it and we will always be #1.  In order to accomplish this we are requesting that everyone who can, put as many crunchers as they can on the project.  The French are already on to our plans and are currently planning their defense of the project.  The French are still a little over 2 million ahead of us, but our biggest concern is that the project will run out of work and close sooner than the end of June.  We need to grab up as many of the current work units as we can before this happens in order to succeed.  The more crunchers we have on the project the more of the work we can grab up.  The computers speed does not matter all that much since the project will not close before all of the work is completed.  So we are requesting that all members who wish to support us in this goal join the project if you have not already and put as many crunchers as you can on it.  At the very most this will last till the end of June, but most likely will be finished before that.

Project of the Month: -BlkJack-21

SETI.USA encourages its members to participate in the project of their choice. Now that we have accomplished the team's original goal of being #1 in SETI@home, credit in ALL BOINC projects is valuable to the team's future success.

Some members have asked for direction as to which projects they should allocate their resources to. Therefore we have decided to designate a “Team Project of the Month”. The chosen project typically will be one in which our team currently has a poor showing in that projects standings.

Due to our current involvement in Proteins@Home and Cels@Home, we are not naming a project of the month for May. Team members who may be looking for a project should select one of these two. You are encouraged to put any machines that are on Proteins@Home also on Cels@Home to help in the effort to take and hold number one there. Cels@Home only offers occasional work, (like Pirates@Home), so setting it at a higher resource share will not adversely affect running Proeins@Home. It is also important to remember that Cels does not use stepping when processing a workunit. So Computing Preferences must be adjusted to leave applications in memory while suspended.

To do so go to this link:
http://cels-at-home-dev.dyndns.org/cels/prefs.php?subset=global

Go to the section: Leave applications in memory while suspended?
(suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') And change "no" to "yes" and update.

Some help would also be appreciated on Riesel Sieve, (like for those that use a different OS than Windows), as we are trying to maintain our #1 from Francofone on that project while achieving this campaign @Proteins and Cels. Otherwise, crunch whatever you like best. A new project of the month will possibly be named as early as July's issue. Thank ALL of you for everything you give to this team!!

Other Projects of interest -SargeD

SETI.USA encourages it's members to crunch whatever project most interests them. However, there are a few projects that we run that do not interfere with our primary projects, yet help us to increase our overall numbers in BOINC. Two of these projects are Pirates@Home and Depspid. Depspid is a non-cpu intensive project that uses some of your bandwidth. Pirates@Home uses the CPU but the WUs are so short (usually less than a minute) that they never interfere with production on other projects. Work for these projects is very sporadic, so we encourage our members to connect and stay connected so that when work is released we can grab our share. Please consider connecting to these projects if you have not already.

Quote of the Month:

"Success is no exclusive club. It is open to each individual who has the courage to choose his own goal and go after it. It is from this forward motion that human growth springs, and out of it comes the human essence known as character."

Team Standing and OS Support -Steve

This chart has been revised to incorporate DrBob's previous weekly project ranking format. More data columns have also been added to track our team's total credit (T.C.) and recent average credit (RAC) against the top teams in each for every project. Total Formula BOINC credits earned by our team are also included now. It also indicates which projects have native 64-bit apps for 64-bit OSes.

RED lettering is used to draw attention to projects of most interest, currently.

SETI.USA - Project Stat Pages -BlkJack-21

Some may have noticed that our Stat Pages have disappeared. In reality, they are only on hiatus. One of our Team Members, SargeD@SETI.USA (one of the creators or our original stat pages), has been working on revamping the Stat Pages. One goal was to include all BOINC Participants within the Stat Pages. Another goal is to provide a more functional, user-friendly interface. The desired outcome is that not only will our Team Members have access to Stats, but the whole BOINC Community.

Stay Tuned!

Formula BOINC Standings -SargeD

We currently hold number one in Formula BOINC with a score of 185. The score is not accurate due to an issue with the Gerasim project and should really be 195.  Hopefully they will get the issue fixed soon and reflect the correct scores. Francofone is not very far behind us with 180 points but we should be widening the gap from this point forward.

We currently hold the #1 spot in 8 of the Formula BOINC projects:
DepSpid

LHC@Home
QMC@Home
RCN
RieselSieve
SETI@Home
Traveling Salesman
Gerasim@Home

For those of you who are interested in keeping up with Formula BOINC standings, zombie67 does a weekly update at our message forum here.
